Homecoming research
1.Definition of homecoming: “Homecoming is an annual tradition in the United States. People, towns, high schools, and colleges come together, usually in late September or early October, to welcome back alumni and former residents.”
2. The history of homecomings: Homecoming started as a way to celebrate alumni football games in colleges and universities.Many schools including Baylor, Southwestern, Illinois, and Missouri have made claims that they've held the first modern homecoming.
3. Why we celebrate: Those who return to their high school for homecoming after graduating do so to celebrate their high school, see old friends and remember memories of their lives. Students who are currently in high school celebrate homecoming to show school spirit and support whatever athletic teams and clubs are going on during that time.
4. Describe several events related to homecoming: One thing is the homecoming football game. Another is a pep rally at some schools. Another thing some schools do is crown a homecoming queen and king.
5. There is always a homecoming football game before homecoming and sometimes another sport like soccer or basketball. This is why it is called a homecoming game.
6. Typical homecoming etiquette is that you must dress semi-formal. Some more non-typical homecoming etiquette is to take your homecoming date to eat before. Typical manners also go a long way. Opening doors,walking with your date. And most importantly it is crucial to save at least one slow dance with your date.
